Swedish folklore and the simplest style imaginable – winter 2008 from Gudrun Sjödén
For Winter 2008 Gudrun Sjödén is combining warm, durable outerwear with super-simple patinated pieces in calming colours, embroidered folklore blouses and a surprising extreme fashion mix in exciting blends of wool. Everything is greatly influenced by and has a strong feeling for Swedish folklore. “For my winter collection I wanted to create a pared-down, folklore feel. I listened to a radio programme about the lighthouse island of Stora Fjäderägg off the coast of Umeå in Sweden. This magical, barren, stony place became my inspiration for my understated collection,” says Gudrun Sjödén, Head of Design and Managing Director.

Nature and watercolours inspire spring 2007 at Gudrun Sjödén
Diffuse watercolour patterns, dusky shades and light natural materials form the basis of a relaxed, very decorative style that is the hallmark of the spring 2007 collection from Gudrun Sjödén. The inspiration behind it comes from Scandinavian nature and the power and feeling of calm it represents.
“Many beautiful garments decorated with rich embroidery and lavish details – often in linen or cotton of both thin and sturdier qualities – feature in our Nordic cultural heritage. And this was my starting point when I began painting watercolours for the collection,” says head designer and MD Gudrun Sjödén.

From peasant fashion in Hälsingland to simple Wardrobe Essentials at Gudrun Sjödén, Winter 2006
“This winter the design team has mixed different patterns in a more restrained colour palette of really dark shades. This is my very own “peasant fashion” inspired by the Swedish province of Hälsingland and its magnificent farmhouses. The result is a poetic, soft feel of the Scandinavian peasant style of times gone by, which has always inspired me and lain at the heart of my creativity," says Gudrun Sjödén, owner, head designer and managing director.

THE GUDRUN SJÖDÉN HOME CATALOGUE, AUTUMN 2006:
Gudrun’s colourful HOME collection interpreted by six different temperaments
Gudrun Sjödén’s HOME collection for autumn 2006 is the result of a period of creativity that started in Karur in southern India. It was a trip round different weaving mills including a wealth of meetings with mill owners, weavers, dyers and seamstresses, which became the inspiration for my biggest HOME collection ever.
”It’s when you meet people like this personally on site that you realise everything is possible. It’s this that I love as a designer and company owner,” says Gudrun Sjödén.
The whole range will be presented in six different settings in a HOME CATALOGUE, on the website and in concept boutiques from the start of September 2006.

Summer gets serene and close to nature with Gudrun Sjödén
Gudrun Sjödén's summer collection sees a return to the romantic and serene with softer colour tones and patterns. It's a tribute to the landscape that surrounds us, and the animal and plant kingdoms.
"The colours in my summer collection are soft and muted. Right now I'm quite tired of everything gaudy and multicoloured, the vast variety of patterns, and want to draw back to a more restrained look," says MD and head designer Gudrun Sjödén.
